ADCON has taken part in all types of Infrastructure projects that dealt with airports, rail systems, train stations, roadways, highways, and bridges.

South Boston Piers Transitway Project

The South Boston Piers/Fort Channel Full Build Transitway Project consisted of a 1.5-mile underground transit tunnel from Boylston Station to the World Trade Center combined with surface bus operations that link the South Boston area with regional mass transit services in downtown Boston.  Five underground Transitway stations and numerous surface bus stations were constructed in order to provide connections to all the Subway Lines, commuter and inter-city rail and bus services, as well as to provide bus service to Logan International Airport.  Construction of the Full Build Bus Rapid transit project was staged. The initial phase was the 1.0-mile tunnel segment which utilizes 32 dual-mode, 60-foot low floor, hybrid diesel-electric articulated buses from South Station to the World Trade Center and Logan Airport with three underground Transitway stations at South Station, the Federal Courthouse/Fan Pier, and the World Trade Center.  This  phase was in operation in 2004, and has generated as many as 37,130 daily riders per day. ADCON  performed the inspections of all underground construction.

Washington D.C. 103-Mile Metrorail Project

WMATA is a heavy rail system.  ADCON was a Project Management Oversight Contractor (PMOC) for the 103-mile expansion program including oversight of design and construction activities (including the Branch Avenue Storage Yard), and the procurement program for 192 new rail cars (5000 series).  During the expansion program monitored by the PMOC, WMATA added 13.97 miles and 9 passenger stations to its system.

City of Memphis, Tennessee Medical Center Rail Extension Project

The Medical Center Rail Extension (MCRE) is a 2-mile east-west extension to the existing Main
Street-Riverfront Trolley Loop track.  From its origin at Main Street, it runs single track to 2nd Street, then double track eastward to the terminus at Cleveland Street.  Included in the project are 6 new stations and a park-and-ride lot near the eastern terminus.  The existing Madison Avenue Bridge over I-240 was upgraded to carry the trolley, as well as meet current seismic design criteria.  New precast/pre-stressed concrete channel bridges on either side of the existing Madison Avenue bridge crossing Danny Thomas Boulevard accommodate the trolley for that crossing.  Four additional vintage trolley vehicles will supplement the existing fleet.  The ridership forecast is for 2,100 daily riders during 2004 and 4,200 riders by 2020.  The design anticipates an eventual conversion to light rail vehicles (LRV’s).  ADCON supported the Project Management Oversight Contractor, including oversight of design and construction activities.

City of Tampa Electric Streetcar Project

The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) has undertaken the design and construction of the Ybor City Electric Streetcar Project. This is a 2.3-mile predominantly single-track system using six passing sidings. The system will operate from the Convention Center to 8th Avenue/20th Street, incorporating a total of ten stations. The Electric Streetcar, operating on city streets, will connect the downtown Tampa waterfront sites (Convention Center, Ice Palace, Garrison Seaport, Florida Aquarium, and the Tampa Port Authority Offices) with historic Ybor City. The first phase will require eight vintage electric trolley vehicles and a trolley maintenance facility.   ADCON was part of Project Management Oversight including oversight of design and  construction activities

Jacksonville Transportation Authority Elevated Skyway

The Jacksonville Automated Skyway Express (ASE) system provides passenger transport within and between the major business districts of downtown Jacksonville.  Fully automated driverless vehicles operate singly or in pairs on an elevated dual guideway stopping at six on-line stations.  The system consists of approximately 2.8 miles of elevated track, a maintenance and yard facility, and a parking structure.  ADCON was part of the Project Management Oversight including oversight of design and construction activities
